QNAP Unveils 12-bay and 16-bay TL SAS 12Gb/s JBOD Series, Delivering up to 96Gbps and 4.6PB Raw Capacity

Taipei, Taiwan, December 3, 2020 – QNAP Systems, Inc. , a leading computing, networking and storage solution innovator today launched new TL SAS storage enclosures, including the 12-bay TL-R1220Sep-RP and 16-bay TL-R1620Sep-RP models, both providing flexible storage expansions for QTS/ QuTS hero NAS. The TL SAS JBOD supports SAS 12Gbps transmission, delivering up to 96Gbps transfer speed and supporting Broadcom® SAS DataBolt bandwidth optimization and multipath routing. Up to 16 JBODs can also be daisy-chained to reach 4.6PB raw capacity, providing high-performance and high-capacity storage expansion solutions for corporations looking for massive storage.

The TL SAS JBOD is powered by a SAS35x28R / SAS35x36R SAS Expander with four SAS wide ports each combining four 12Gbps SAS lanes. By configuring two wide ports with link aggregation, transfer speeds can reach 96Gb/s. Featuring Broadcom® SAS DataBolt™ bandwidth optimization technology, the TL SAS JBOD features an intelligent data buffer for transferring data to drives at speeds that match the performance of the host NAS, allowing user to benefit from high-speed 12Gb/s SAS transmission with existing 6Gb/s infrastructure. With the host NAS supports multipath routing, high availability can be achieved. If one route fails, another transmission route can be used to access the data and ensure continuous system operations.

“Compared with our existing REXP expansion enclosures. the TL SAS JBOD provides higher performance and double the data transmission speeds. It can also daisy-chain up to sixteen JBODs to reach 4.6PB raw capacity. By using the Storage & Snapshot Manager app on the host NAS, users can easily configure and manage the settings of the TL SAS JBOD, including RAID groups and snapshots, to ensure the full consolidation and integrity of data,” said David Tsao, Product Manager of QNAP.

Featuring a short-depth design, the TL SAS JBOD is suitable for universal deployment. Up to sixteen expansion enclosures can be daisy-chained via high-speed mini SAS HD cables to support massive storage capacity applications (including virtualization, surveillance, Big Data, and 4K/8K multimedia). The TL SAS JBOD also provides the ability to accelerate transferring huge files: After moving files to the TL SAS JBOD, it can be removed from the host NAS and attached to another NAS to facilitate data transfer without impacting network performance.

QNAP Extends its Dominance Over the Cloud NAS Space by Releasing QuTScloud on the Azure Marketplace

Taipei, Taiwan, November 12, 2020 – QNAP Systems, Inc. (QNAP), a leading computing, networking, and storage solution innovator, today announced that QuTScloud – a software-defined cloud NAS solution – is available from the Microsoft® Azure Marketplace through a license subscription. Azure Marketplace is the latest cloud marketplace to support QuTScloud, joining other cloud marketplaces including AWS® and Alibaba Cloud®.

For organizations that store most of their data on the cloud but lack a good management system to capitalize on their digital assets, they can create a virtual machine on Azure to deploy QuTScloud. A cloud-based NAS provides universal storage and comprehensive file management that not only optimizes cloud data usage but also streamlines cross-site collaboration for offices with hybrid clouds.

“QuTScloud’s availability on the Azure Marketplace allows us to have an extensive global reach within the Cloud NAS industry,” said Aseem Manmualiya, Product Manager of QNAP, adding, “Azure is one of the most popular cloud platforms in the world and QuTScloud will assist businesses managing SaaS-enabled workloads in the cloud to optimize their data usage and cost effectiveness.”

QuTScloud can be easily setup and started in three simple steps:

  1. Launch QuTScloud as a virtual machine from the Azure Marketplace.
  2. Purchase a license from the QNAP Software StoreWatch tutorial
  3. Generate a QuTScloud license key using the QNAP License Manager and initialize QuTScloud. Watch tutorial

QuTScloud provides users with a near-identical user experience and feature set as QTS, the QNAP NAS operating system. QuTScloud includes the App Center that offers a wide range of free and premium apps for boosting QuTScloud functionality and adding more features. Key features of QuTScloud include:

  • Easily access files using CIFS/SMB, NFS, AFP, and iSCSI protocols.
  • Mount data to QuTScloud from cloud storage (via HBSHybridMount or VJBOD Cloud).
  • Streamline backup and restoration processes with snapshots and versioning.
  • Quickly find files with Qsirch – QNAP’s comprehensive search engine.

QNAP Launches the QHora-301W – Next-Generation Wi-Fi 6 and 10GbE Dual-port SD-WAN Router with a Qualcomm IPQ8072A Processor

Taipei, Taiwan, November 6, 2020– QNAP Systems, Inc. (QNAP), a leading computing, networking, and storage solution innovator, today released the QHora-301W, a Software-Defined Wide-Area Network (SD-WAN) Router with Wi-Fi 6 and dual 10GbE ports. This next-generation router provides not only remote multi-site VPN and complete connectivity, but also QuWAN Cloud Orchestrator topology and enhanced security features, providing a flexible and reliable high-efficiency network structure for remote working and multi-site businesses.

With an enterprise-grade Qualcomm Quad-core 2.2GHz processor and 1GB RAM, the QHora-301W provides high-performance Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and 2.4GHz/5GHz dual-band wireless transmission. With eight antennas and MU-MIMO, the QHora-301W provides the perfect wireless pattern views to enhance Wi-Fi coverage signals, delivering up to 3600Mbps transfer speed and allowing for more concurrent Wi-Fi clients. With two 10GbE ports and four Gigabit ports, the QHora-301W offers flexible WAN/LAN configurations for optimized network deployment, achieving high-speed LAN, streamlined cross-site file transfer and auto mesh multi-site VPN. Furthermore, the QHora-301W enables interconnected Mesh VPN topology via QuWAN (QNAP’s SD-WAN technology), providing reliable network infrastructure for digital transmission, prioritized network bandwidth*, automatic WAN failover and centralized cloud management.

The QHora-301W enhances access security between enterprise VPN and edge connection for remote working. With enterprise-level VAP (Virtual AP), IT staff can configure up to six exclusive SSID groups for different departments or application services. Wi-Fi encryption ensures that users can enjoy high-speed wireless transmission with the utmost security. Additional features (including firewalls, port forwarding, and access controls) can effectively filter and block untrusted connections and login attempts. SD-WAN also provides IPsec encryption VPN, Deep Packet Inspection, and L7 Firewall* to ensure the security of VPN network transmission.

“The growth in bandwidth-demanding applications and the transition to remote working requires an investment in secure Wi-Fi 6 and 10GbE connectivity,” said Judy Chen, Product Manager of QNAP, adding “the QHora-301W combines breakthrough speed with Wi-Fi encryption, firewalls, and QuWAN SD-WAN technology to help users ensure a safe network environment for accessing confidential and sensitive data.”

Built for modern IT environments, the QHora-301W can be universally installed throughout homes and offices and is compatible with VESA mounts. The fanless cooling and low-noise design also ensures cool, stable, and quiet operations even when under heavy load.

Note: QHora will add supports of QuWAN prioritized network bandwidth and L7 Firewall functions from 2021 Q1.
